Hi, I’m Ron Murphy—though I go by R.A. Murphy in most of my writing and audio work.
As we grow older, l believe that life invites us to go deeper — not faster... To trade achievement for alignment... To finally listen more closely to that quiet inner voice that still has something to say.
I'm in my seventies. Before retiring, I enjoyed a long career in technology and teaching. But retirement proved boring. At the time, the internet was cranking up so I jumped in. Over time, I explored a dozen different opportunites. Some proved moderately successful... The problem was I felt like I was back in the grind. I began exploring alternative paths, inner paths instead of external.
Now, I’ve come to see this chapter of life as a time for meaning, not just maintenance. My new work is not work at all, It's a joy. Now I help others — especially those of us 55 and older — reconnect with what I call inner purpose: the steady, inner compass that guides us toward peace, clarity, and joy in our remaining years.
With more than 40 years in technology and training, I help older adults gain confidence using digital tools, one calm step at a time. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by today’s tech—or simply want to stay sharp, safe, and connected—you’re in the right place.
I started my career as a computer programmer, back when big companies were the only ones who could afford computers. Office buildings had dedicated computer rooms for the IBM mainframes.
Over the years, I’ve worn many hats—tech support rep, training developer, technical writer, university instructor, IT Manager for a national real estate firm and finally consultant.
After retiring from full-time IT, I turned my focus to helping others learn—especially older adults who often get left behind in the digital age.
Fun fact: I registered RAMurphy.com in 1996, when the web was still finding its footing. Even then, I knew the real challenge wasn’t building websites—it was helping people understand what they were seeing.
Many older adults feel left out of the digital world—not because they’re incapable, but because no one took the time to teach them in a way that makes sense.
That’s what I do here at RAMurphy.com.
I offer clear, respectful tech education that meets people where they are.
Whether it’s:
Learning how to manage email
